Honda opens the new year with the release of the latest Honda VFR1200X, also known as the Crosstourer. This mid-life model received several updates to face head-to-head in the touring adventure segment, the BMW Motorrad R1200 GS.
V4 engine with a capacity of 1237cc redesigned to provide lower torque. Power is reduced to 129 hp at 7,750 rpm and 126 Nm of torque at 6,500 rpm. Previously the output produced reached 170 hp at 10,000 rpm and torque of 129 Nm at 8,750 rpm from the VFR1200F’s engine.
There are two gearbox options – a standard six-speed and Automatic Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT) operation via buttons on the bar. DCT offers three driving modes, ‘MT’ to give the driver full control, ‘D’ for better fuel consumption, and ‘S’ for power before moving to the next gear. Nevertheless, there are still replacements available with foot-shifters.
To help control, Honda uses the Selectable Torque Control System (HSTC) to allow the driver to choose three modes of engine torque delivery, or it can also be turned off for off-road conditions such as snow or sand. The suspension is controlled by a USD 43mm fork KYB output, while the rear suspension of the Honda Pro-Link is mated to the KYB damper.
From a physical point of view, the New VRF1200X Crosstourer uses a new windscreen that is very easy to operate as needed. Even with only one hand, each rider will not be too busy to raise or lower the proportion of the windscreen.
The motor that weighs 275 kg uses a 310 mm disc on the front and 276 mm on the back plus ABS. 110/80 R19 tires at the front and 150/70 R17 at the rear, and fuel capacity reaches 21.5 liters.
